The five minutes before Maghrib, made calm.
خمس دقائق قبل المغرب، بسكينة.
Sakeenah is a concept for a prayer companion app. The phone on this page is live: its countdown runs on real prayer-time maths, and you can turn its Qibla ring.
A 2026 portfolio concept. Sakeenah is not a real app, and there is nothing to download.
These times are estimates here. Follow your local mosque.

Turn the ring as if turning the phone

The verse
Al-Fath 48:4, the verse that gives the app its name, copied exactly from the Tanzil Uthmani text.
Follow the verse word by word.
In the concept app, the word being recited is marked as the recitation plays, at the pace you choose.
The clip is a silent drawing of that screen, made for this page. There is no recitation and no reciter in it, and the marking moves at an even pace. Click the clip to pause it.
A silent drawing of the Sakeenah reader showing Al-Fath 48:4, each word marked in turn.
Day or night, the app matches yours.
In the concept app the theme follows your phone's setting. Try both here: the switch changes only the screen beside it.
Five tools in one app.
Reader
The whole Mushaf, page by page, in the concept app. On this page the reader holds one verse: Al-Fath 48:4.
The verse that gives the app its name: the word sakīnah, tranquillity, is in it.
Adhkar
Morning and evening remembrances, and those after the prayer, each with a count beside it.
Qibla
A full-screen compass in the concept app. On this page, a laptop has no compass, so you turn the ring yourself.
Tasbih
Tap to count, with a target of 33, 99 or your own number.
This counter works on this page. It forgets the count when you leave.
Tasbih
After the prayer
سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ
Reminders
One quiet alert at each prayer, silent unless you choose a sound.
This page sends no notifications and asks for no permission.
Your own khatm, kept on your phone.
In the concept app, your reading progress stays on the device. Nobody else's reading is counted, and there is no leaderboard.
The ring is demo data. It fills as you scroll.
Who the concept is for.
I wanted one countdown I could glance at between meetings, without a feed under it.
Reading on the train with no signal is the whole point for me.
My mother uses the bead counter every evening and has never asked how it works.
There is nothing to download.
Sakeenah is a design concept. The phone above is the real part: the times, the Qibla bearing and the verse are true. The app, its store pages and the people quoted are not.
Questions
Is Sakeenah a real app?
No. It is a 2026 portfolio concept by a web developer. There is no app, no account and no store listing, and it is not connected to any app or company with a similar name.
How are the prayer times on this page worked out?
In your browser, with the open-source adhan library: the Egyptian General Authority of Survey method (Fajr at 19.5°, Isha at 17.5°) and the Shafi'i, Maliki and Hanbali time for Asr. Above 48° latitude, Fajr and Isha are kept within the seventh of the night. Times can differ by a minute or two from your mosque's, so follow your local mosque's timetable.
Is my location sent anywhere?
No. The page asks only when you press Use my location. Your position is rounded to about a kilometre, used on this page for the times and the Qibla bearing, and forgotten when you leave. Nothing is sent or saved.
Where is the verse from?
Al-Fath 48:4, copied exactly from the Tanzil Project's Uthmani text (tanzil.net) and set in Amiri Quran. No translation is shown, because no translation with a clear free licence was used.
